Plunger Stop Assembly

This assembly is recommended for use in all 5 mil DM-1 cartridge applications and is available for all electric inker H style cartridge holders. The assembly consists of an adjustable plunger stop which is attached to the solenoid/cartridge holder with a bracket and set screw.

The exposed filament length of the 5 mil DM-1 cartridge is 0.025 inch shorter than other DM-1 cartridges in order to deposit a minimal amount of ink. The 5 mil application also requires a very short plunger stroke to limit the amount of ink drawn to the filament tip.

Limiting plunger travel via the adjustable plunger stop provides better control of the amount of ink transported by the filament and therefore consistency of dot sizes in applications where small dots (5 mil) are required.

Easy Setup Instructions:

Install an opened, manually primed* 5 mil DM-1 cartridge on the cartridge holder (see the opening and priming instructions included on the cartridge packaging insert). Turn the plunger adjustment knob clockwise until the thumbscrew stops (tighten the thumbscrew all the way down). From this point, back the plunger adjustment knob off 1 ¼ turns (counterclockwise). The wire/filament will no longer be visible at the cartridge tip. Complete cartridge priming, if required, by actuating the solenoid repeatedly until ink is present at the filament tip. The inker is ready for operation. Some additional fine adjustment may be necessary. Fine tuning adjustments should not exceed ¼ turn in either direction.

* Use manual movement of the main guide/ filament ONLY to prime the cartridge. Do not actuate the solenoid to prime the cartridge until AFTER the plunger stop assembly is adjusted.
